So, this week was my official start of summer! Yes. I am so happy :) Basically I've cleaned my house and ran around a lot because everyone decided to get back at me and get gone!
Just as an example: Michaelah, Sam, and Hunter are currently enjoying the DC area for the entire week and I am so jealous. I adore DC. I would live there. If it weren't for the humidity/tourists. But really, go with me sometime and we'll head to the Holocaust Museum. It makes me cry every single time but I love it there. It's amazing. It's inspiring. Plus, my family is over there and I love that family so much!!! 9 kids. All under 18. 8 boys. 1 girl. My favorites are Kirgan and Ben. Kirg is my age and basically he "hates" everything but he's just a kidder and I know how to get him to quit the act. Ben is the sassiest kid alive and I love messing with him :)
Anyway, I just got home from a week of Girls' State!!! It was long. Crazy. Hard. Amazing. I really did have one of the best experiences ever. Plus, I was honored to be voted Supreme Court Justice. There were only 3 Justices out of 322 girls up there.... so you kinda know how competitive it was. I will never forget those girls and it was just a great time to become a new person for a week-I was a lot more outgoing. And I had so much fun!!!
One of the hard things was that we had to sing to boys. We couldn't talk to boys... we had to sing. And there was a basketball camp up there. Holy cow. I'll write the song for you but I doubt that I will ever sing it ever again. Ever.
Girls, girls, girls, that's all I see
there's not a guy in the vicinity
and every night at ten, they lock the door
I don't know what the heck I ever came here for
and when the weekend finally rolls around
I'm gonna turn my home town upside down
I'm gonna find a guy and neck and neck and neck and neck
to heck with all these girls!
There was some debate about what "necking" was. Our director said, "that 'back in her day!' necking was just giving a hug but you do that after every date now so..." and we never really got back to that particular subject. Anyway, you can just imagine how embarrassing it was to sing to boys who played basketball.
But it was super fun! And I have the ribbons to prove it :) Stef knows what that means. Love you guys! And to all the people who helped me "break the rules" and texted me whilst I was in the Great Hall, THANK YOU. You kept me sane. Really... listening to "blah blah blah" for 3 hours is no fun. But, I did enjoy hearing the Governor and Mark Shurtliff. Yeah, he was amazing. Plus, we saw a flag burning. So much great stuff, in one week, so rewarding!
ENJOY SUMMER
Just so you know, necking means making-out :) so... anywho I am glad you had so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYes Laurel, thank you :) but in the days of Valerie this song was not naughty at all, which made it okay apparently
