It's Michaelah's birthday today!!! Happy birthday Kayla! Obviously, we had to throw some sort of festivity for her. And we did. This morning, after telling her we were going to do something in the afternoon, we kidnapped her. (It's kinda like what we did with Stef, planned an evening party with her so she wouldn't suspect the morning abduction.)
When I say we I mean WE. 11 people. Myself, Stef, Jen, Laurel, Jackson, and Tim in one car. Christian, Rian, Braden, Aubree, and Wesley in the other. United together under one banner. And that banner read, "Make Kayla Have a Cow Over Her Birthday This Morning."
I called Jackson before seven this morning, he asked me to. When I called he wasn't awake. I told him to get awake. Braden was on my doorstep promptly at 7:20. Tim. Tim wasn't awake. He woke up to me calling him at 7:26. We were running late. But thanks to my crazy driving (safe crazy driving) we made it to Kayla's in 4 minutes I think.
So, we got to Kayla's house. Check. And then her family was ready for us. Joseph opened the door without us having to knock and we all kinda ran/walked real fast into her house. Stefanie skillfully secured (like the alliteration?) a bandanna round Michaelah's face. Wesley then proceeded to hoist Michaelah up on his shoulders and literally carried her out of the house.
WE then drove all over Orem. First to Jen's house (she was asleep!) At Jen's we made Kayla switch cars. She was now in my car. And we were going to have our fun. Tim blasted music from the Spanish channel and Jackson tortured Kayla. He tortured her by rubbing a tennis ball on her hand... yep. He really got to her. I was a better driver than Christian. We drove in parking lots over mini-hills. We drove down a big hill and then came right back up. We went to the Ivory Homes and then got out of there. We went to R.C. Willey's and had a Chinese Fire Drill. Kayla switched cars again. We went to Jackson's and drove around his cul-de-sac. We went to another round area and drove in a circle 5 times. Apparently, everyone got sick. (Not in the fun car) We went to my church and did a figure 8 and finally we went to my house. Kayla was completely unaware of where she was until Christian said, "Hey! It's Jackson's house!" (We had even called and said "Don't say, 'Hey! It's Jackson's house!' because then she'll know where she is!") Yeah, then she knew where she was and where she was going. Oh well.
We got to my house, Wesley carried her in and we all piled into the kitchen. My dad had made us all a beautiful breakfast of scrambled eggs, BACON, bananas, yogurt, coffee cake, juice (that was provided by Braden, thanks Braden!), and muffins (that were provided by Stef and Jen, thanks Stef and Jen!).
We wanted to sing to Michaelah, it's her birthday. So we put the candles in the fresh-out-of-the-oven coffee cake. Then the candles mysteriously started sinking... and tipping over. Wondering what was happening Stefanie took a candle out. It had half-way melted because the cake was so hot. Yep. We had wax cake. No biggie. We just put a candle in one of the muffins, sang Happy Birthday opera style, and all was well.
We had breakfast and then broke out the Apples to Apples. While everyone was playing, Stef and Jen napped on my big red chair while I lulled them to sleep with my piano playing. Then we played Catch-Phrase and had a lovely time. Everyone was able to get home safe and we had a fun time. I call it a success!
